Frequently asked questions about laying vinyl flooring in the Zurich area

Vinyl or laminate — which is better?

Vinyl is 100 % waterproof and is also suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and basements. Laminate is cheaper and has a similar wood-effect finish, but is not suitable for damp rooms. Vinyl is also quieter and feels warmer underfoot, which is why we often prefer it to laminate nowadays.

Click-fit vinyl or self-adhesive vinyl?

Click vinyl is installed as a floating floor; it is easier to replace and quicker to lay. Adhesive vinyl is bonded over the entire surface to the subfloor, making it more stable under heavy furniture and better suited to underfloor heating. We decide which to use depending on the room and the subfloor.

Is vinyl safe for your health?

Modern vinyl is low in phthalates and plasticisers and is certified to EN 14041. We use only branded materials that carry the Blue Angel or PVC-free certification (LVT design flooring). We can show you the technical data sheet on request.

How long does vinyl flooring last?

For domestic use, 15–25 years, depending on the wear layer (0.3–0.7 mm). In commercial settings, we estimate 10–15 years for areas subject to heavy wear. Vinyl is more susceptible to scratches than laminate — felt pads under furniture are essential.
